BBQ - Baptism of Fire

Happy Independence Day!

1st-  Hamburgers to test the strength of the Grill.
Prepared and Marinated overnight
Delish! (^__^)
Yes, I'm going to combine my love for BBQ Smoke and Grill with my love for Jesus' Baptismal fire.

This morning as I'm turning all thoughts to the Lord and getting the Grill prepped and ready for a day of marinated Smoked meat (...upon meat, upon meat),  I caught a glimpse of the heat waves rising from a freshly lit fire.  The waves rippled as would water running down a stream.

All at once I was reminded of the baptism of Fire that when poured out in the Spirit refines the children of God,  yet when poured out on the Flesh, it burns with an raging unquenchable fire.

The way I see it,  we're either gonna "Feel the Burn" now, or later.

May we live our lives as Burning Sacrifices,  by actively choosing the things that please Him.   When we do the things that are pleasing to God, this allows Him to step into our lives that by our Faith the Holy Spirit accomplishes the work in us and through us.  Our responsibility is in staying sensitive to what the Spirit of God is doing.

You who have little ones,  your heart is warmed when you see them trying to emulate you.  This is the same relationship we have with Our Heavenly Father.   Think on how precious it is, and how such a loving response of mimicry inspires you to be a better parent.   I for one like to BBQ because I saw how much joy it brought my Father.   So I BBQ in honor of him, and in learning to appreciate the work I find my enjoyment in the same thing. Gotta love a good tradition!

To Love is to Cast the same Shadow
Feel the Patriotism!

When we echo the things that we love about our parents,  we cast a shadow of that love onto the world, and that echo may resound through your time ( by the Grace of God your Love may impression upon the future generations...)

But before I get ahead of myself,  I'll share scripture that I read today.  Most of my posts tend to be a call towards Righteousness, by way of reminder of the distinction between those who are Keepers of His will, and those who are hearers only.

BBQ takes a lot of time to prepare, its a wonderfully long and drawn out process.  If the fire is too high, your meat will taste of ash.  If its too low you're not even cooking.   As I'm learning to BBQ I also find myself learning to respect and appreciate the process of the slow constant burn.

I, for one, like Roast and BBQ  done slowly over a steady heat.   Perhaps I am a bit naive, but if this slow roasted, smoked method produces succulent meat to my taste-buds,  I feel I ought to take a lesson from this in my desire and life practice towards be more pleasing, a living sacrifice, to The Father's senses.

Basting with Bacon Grease
This is why I diet!
Righteousness is as Fire, and Living a Spirit-Led life is as an ember that burns the exact same way.  We gotta feed it to keep it going,  tend it and let it change us, The Father is an all consuming fire,  so time in His presence refines us.  When we find ourselves in agreement, we become friends of God.  His Spirit then leads us gently, that we may live our lives as a sacrificial offering, and be made sanctified in the process.  Yet too hot and we singe,  too low and we're not even cooking.

"For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. "
Matt 5:20

To Winnow is to put it to the Test
Now Onto the Meat of the Situation
Baptism of  Water & Fire
The Winnowing and the Slow Burn

John the Baptizer of Water,
Jesus Ha Maschiach the Baptizer of Fire.
One prepares The Way for the other, and in agreement they fulfill all Righteousness.

Some key things to remember are that Jesus and John the Baptist work in tandem.  John the Baptists' "Call to Repentance" was to remind the people of the Messiah's Function- to test, separate and save what is worth keeping.

Jesus carries out the Will of the Father by coming to the Field and separating the Wheat from the Chaff.

Chaff and weak seed is blown away by the wind.  Both have no weight, as it has not born fruit in accordance with  the seed planted.

Many like the soft and comforting warmth and promise that comes with Salvation, yet many fail to remember the work: By active faith (and works) we are to live to the Upward Call of Righteousness.

Living by Faith we invest in His Kingdom Come and are counted as weighty.

Christianity is more than a theoretical framework, its a Life Philosophy that includes actively seeking to do the things that Please God.

That we may be pleasing in our  BBQ basted and slow smoked aroma to our Heavenly Father.

Don't worry about my analogies!  (^__^)
Happy Independence Day!

We are granted Liberty to pursue that which is Righteous and Wholesome and Good.

Okay I gotta get back on the Grill.
