(^__^) Oh Mrs. Slocombe Are You Being Served? |
It is better to Give than to Receive
It is better to Give than to Receive
"I just want to be happy!" One post flashed as I scrolled on through.
The melodramatic refrain sank deep in reverberation through my core. On the bounce-back it found its way into this article.
There are so many books on the subject of Happiness. Philosophers make their name on it. Cults lobotomize and chase the dragon, World-views are formed in light of its priority, but does anyone know what Happiness is?
At this point in my life, I consider "Happiness" in relation to work. Like the Endorphin rush felt at the end of a fantastic workout, it is a result of labor.
One must be served to be made Happy
Fulfillment however, takes hold of something greater.
Fulfillment however, takes hold of something greater.
The Pursuit of Happiness
...involves Pursuit
Many try to separate satisfaction from effort in name of convenience.
We have instant cake mix, instant stuffing,
canned cranberry relish;
These may fill the stomach, but do we appreciate these as much?

Thanksgiving is a very special holiday that brings focus to this cycle
of Work and Win. In our ease and laziness we forget that happiness is tied to
effort, and Thanksgiving offers us a chance to consider our
misunderstanding of fundamental principals of Being.
In a world of handmade goods, there is much appreciation for the smaller working parts that keep it all together. In our world of machines, we tend to embody the opposite state; one of Expectation.
When we continue in a state of Expectation, we miss out on Fulfillment.
I found it a very
introspective day, as I aimed to rise above myself in prayerful meditation. I focused on
appreciation for all that I can grasp with my tiny little mind, and I loved the day for it.

Things I Appreciate
Time, and the ability to make use of it.
Life, that I have an opportunity to live it.
Family, with whom i can struggle to learn the lessons of love.
Pandora's box of Emotions that teach us to learn about ourselves,
Hope and Faith, that I be able to meet Him face to face when he comes.

The Chef and servant, is the most enriched, regardless of expressions of gratitude. She comes to Illumination well-before a forkful touches her pallet Because she learns of Truth. |
