Blessed Yom Kippur

Blessed Yom Kippur
The Day of Atonement
(... what it means to me)

Isaiah 52-53 Jewish Study Bible
Freedom exists not to do what you like,

but to have the right to do what you ought
-Jim Caviezel

This evening will mark the Holiday of Yom Kippur;  the Holiest day of the year for the peoples of God.  I for one feel very blessed to be aware and on time to take part in this "Sabbath of Sabbaths".

Though I am not Jewish by birth,  I am purchased with a Price into the family of God. I personally delight in honoring his Holy Days, and I love to grow in understanding of the time pieces he set in place for us to worship and grow closer to Him in Spirit and in Truth.

On this very solemn Day of Atonement, we reflect and consider the Truth of God, in contrast with the truth of ourselves. We remind ourselves of Who He Is: Creator of the Universe.

He orchestrates all events, He makes providence for us.   Though we were separate from him, He made a Way for our reconciliation back unto Himself through His Son Jesus Christ.  His steadfast Love foretold in the Torah, made flesh in His son, and received by the Spirit,  Father has been writing the Book of Life,  since the beginning.

Yom Kippur is as much about self-reflection and scrutiny, as much as it is about accepting His Merciful Purifying Love; as only He can purify us and redeem us back to Himself.  For me all of Father's Sabbath have their fullness and completion in Christ.  By accepting that,  I gain a deeper understanding of the depths of His Love.   Forgiveness from a Just and Holy God must be purchased, and this is the Spirit of Yom Kippur.

At Sundown begins the journey, as we relinquish our own ways,  accepting the fact that even relative separation from Him means death, to the grave is a life without God: unfulfilled.  Where have we placed idols in our lives? What obscures the pathway from His marvelous Light from filling our temples?  All that we have has been given to us by Him. We're merely stewards of His property.  (Matt 25)

It wasn't until I bothered to check, that I found my guitar was out of tune. In living a spiritual life, one must have an open ear and bother to listen to that which is True to adjust ones self accordingly.

Without HIs Word, life becomes a slippery slope, and soon you're out of key.

Let us draw closer to Him and follow more perfectly in step, as performers of His Love and Truth in the land of the living.

“I love you, yes it hurt, and you’re worth it”

It is by a series of very beautiful synchronous events I present this interview clip with Jim Caviezel.  Many thanks to Nosebot Press.  I would encourage everyone to watch the full interview with J.C's  personal testimony to be found here

When I first watched "The Passion" with my mother at its theatrical release; I felt pushed to one of two options.  I would give over to weeping, or I'd ground in the Truth.  I held my peace, as I witnessed the wounded audience and felt their silent cries.  When the doors opened I was overwhelmed with a spirit of zeal.   I raged in the parking lot;  “Where was the depiction of victory in Christ?!”.

As much as I hate cliffhangers, I let it go, knowing in my spirit that the film served its function in reflecting the filthy rags and venomous end of Man’s righteousness.  While people may loose sight that Jesus laid down His life willingly and took it up again, there is no fleshly perspective from which one can consider, and be separated from the guilt of the human condition, except that one accept it as The Atonement gift for reconciliation with He who is Holy, Holy, Holy and the effect that His presence causes.

What exactly is Holiness?  Rudolf Otto aimed to define Holiness by considering its effect  “Mysterium Tremendum”; that central experience in witnessing a mystery before which man both trembles in fear and is fascinated, is both repelled and attracted.

A number of systems attempt to diminish the character of God by doing away with His Holiness altogether.  Yet His Holiness^3 is an attribute of cause and effect.  If God were not Holy,  let alone Holy Holy Holy (that is thrice removed and glorified beyond our meagre comprehension)  there would be no need for such suffering, or atonement.  Man would be just dandy as he is wallowing in darkness. But God Is Holy, and one cannot properly conceive of God, without acknowledging His Holiness, personhood, and His steadfast love and faithfulness.   Its Who He Is.
It is the universe and time that is set in motion; but He never changes.

The consequences of His Holiness is Love.  Which has a manifold effect; of Searing Wrath and Everlasting Mercy - each facet of which is manifest at the Cross that by Faith beyond all shadow of doubt, He would redeem us back unto Himself.

He, from whom all concepts of Virtue and Righteousness emanate, is that bright searing light of the Morning star, the burn in the film reel of life; in Him is transcendence of life and the translation of the meaning of Love in perfect embodiment.
